No one should ever require money for delivering
Allah's messages. Work for Allah has rewards other than this world.
Islam is for everyone, Muslims and non-Muslims alike. If anyone
should demand money for themselves for Allah's messages they will
surely lose. Teachers of Allah's message should still seek advice
from Allah how they should survive, not from money demanded from
those learning. If Allah is willing there will be those with enough
money to give from their hearts willingly.
I was in the mosque talking with some young men. I was asked what
I do for a living. I told them that I do web design and took out
my wallet to offer them my card when Allah touched my heart and
reminded me that it was wrong to do anything related to business
in his house. I apologized to the young men and told them I could
not give them my card in the mosque and put my wallet back in my
pocket. I was surprised when I came back to the mosque at Asar to
find 3 washing machine salesmen inside the fence of the mosque at
the entrance to the doorway. They were set up with the washing machine
to display to the women coming at four for their daily Quran reading.
Allah has showed me how one thing could lead to another until the
house of worship is filled with traders looking for buyers. I was
also reminded of my teaching from the Bible of how "Isa-Jesus"
the messenger of Allah went into the house of Allah and made all
the people there doing business leave.
