MooMoo
by Jessica Madden
Once there was a llama named
MooMoo who was part of a traveling petting zoo. Everyday she gave
grubby-fingered kids piggy back rides around a circle again and
again. She just knew that this wasn't the life for her.
One day MooMoo was carrying around a particularly annoying boy
who kept yanking her fur and kicking her in the ribs. That was
it. MooMoo had had enough. Now was her time for payback. MooMoo
stormed through the protective fencing, with the boy still holding
on. Then she rampaged through the petting zoo in a mad fit of
rage, finally plowing through the grassy fields and away from
the camp. One must know that during all of this the little boy
was still clinging to her, letting out deranged giggles and whoops
of joy.
Once MooMoo was far enough away, she stopped to catch her breath.
It was then that she remembered what that strange weight on her
back was. She turned her fuzzy llama neck around to look at the
boy. He seemed about three or four years old with curly red hair
and a slightly psychotic look in his eye. He wore a necklace with
a paper tag saying, 'Hi! My name is Timmy. If found please return
me to my parents', along with a home address and phone number.
MooMoo refused to do such a thing. She picked him up with her
teeth and flung Timmy as far as she could back towards the zoo.
This was really only a few feet, but it satisfied her because
Timmy sat right where he landed, seemingly in a state of confusion.
MooMoo started walking again while making plans for her new life.
She would sell her fur to fur traders and make millions, rent
a condo in the Bahamas, and lounge all day at the beach while
working on her tan.
She had been walking for about 10 minutes when she tripped over
something, making her awkwardly and slowly fall down. She looked
around to see what caused her fall and her eyes stopped on Timmy.
Evidently she had been followed. By now the kid was horribly dirty,
every other spot caked with mud and bits of grass. Timmy grinned
up at her and busted out, "Horsey!". MooMoo frowned.
This mentally-ill kid was going to ruin her plans. She decided
she would carry Timmy to the nearest town and drop him off. She
needed to find some fur traders and a travel agency anyway. They
walked for another 10 minutes, Timmy singing the entire way, before
they reached a town. It was a pleasant, small town named Helen.
MooMoo looked around a little, but didn't see any fur traders.
She figured she'd just go to the travel agency first. MooMoo found
a tiny travel agency and headed in, ignoring the 'No shoes, No
shirt, No Service' sign hanging on the door.
Inside, the shop was kind of dusty and there was a bird-like lady
sitting at the counter. MooMoo told the Bird Lady about her plans
to go to the Bahamas. Bird Lady replied, "NO llamas are allowed
in the Bahamas! They usually don't mind camels and goats, but
absolutely no llamas". MooMoo was very disheartened at this.
There was nowhere else she wanted to go. She walked outside and
knew something wasn't right.
She smelled smoke and Timmy was missing. She had lost track of
him when she started looking for fur traders. Suddenly Timmy came
screaming and laughing around the corner. Now she saw why she
smelled smoke; Timmy was carrying a fiery stick in his hand and
was being followed by an angry mob. It appeared that about five
buildings across the street had burst into flames. Timmy scrambled
up her leg and onto her back. MooMoo ran so that Timmy wouldn't
be killed, squashed, or trampled, even though he was an evil little
thing. She had no other choice but to go back to the petting zoo.
She finally got back and returned Timmy to his oddly nice parents.
She went back to giving little kids rides, but first demanded
that some rules be posted and she be given a raise. The rules
were as follows:
1. Do not poke or prod MooMoo
the llama in any way.
2. As much as you may believe otherwise, MooMoo does not enjoy
being kicked repeatedly or having her hairs pulled out one by
one.
3. MooMoo IS a llama. She is not a camel, horse, or cow.
4. Donations for MooMoo's trip to the Bahamas Australia are greatly
appreciated.
