Then there was the
Billie goat. My dad was always keeping some sort of animals around
the house. He had this mean old goat and told me many times not
to go near the fence. But the little boy adventurer had to come
out one day. I had an older friend that lived just across the way
and he came over to visit. I just had to show him the new goat.
I do not remember how exactly but like some nightmare we were inside
the fence with this old goat and as fate would have it we were chased
from the fence. The only problem was we left the gate open and the
chasing did not stop there. We did manage to escape with out any
serious injury. As fate would have it here I was left to explain
to my dad why the goat was out of the fence.
As my life continued
I began some time are another to start feeling like I was just in
a bubble and my city was all that there was. I guess that comes
from being raised in a small town. I still remember the first time
that my mother drove us through Greenville, SC. I was totally amazed
at the ten to fifteen story tall buildings. It was so big. At this
time I have been around the world several times and I still feel
that I am just in a bubble like a lab rat. The only difference now
is that I have felt the walls and know that it is true. I am still
not sure who it is that is observing us but I am sure that we are
all in a cage. Who are we humans? Why was we created? Where did
we come from? Where are we going? I don't guess any one else has
ever asked these questions, ha, ha.
Like I said this
is a little bit on the rambling side but I must write about the
things I remember. When I was just a little kid I can remember sitting
in the back yard beating on an old wash tub like the Indians on
TV to make it rain. What was amazing was the incredible timing of
the rain. It was so noticeable that my mom got to the point when
it was dry she would tell me to go beat the rain drums. It never
failed to rain. Now I can still be amazed because I can watch the
weather and see that there is no call for rain. Then in my mind
I will picture the world and in my mind I pull the clouds up from
the gulf because I believe there is always moisture there. Then
in three days we have rain from the gulf. I remember when we were
in Indonesia the people there were telling me how bad the drought
had been. I pictured in my mind the moisture from the ocean dissipating
over the island of Indonesia. Before I left there I heard comments
about how wonderful the rain was that had been so long in coming.
I know as a sensible adult that this is not possible and that it
is all just one big coincidence. But who knows?
